Speed is part of the experience
Visitors expect pages to appear almost instantly, especially on mobile. If a page is slow or jumps around while loading, many people simply go back to Google and choose someone else. Google also uses page experience signals as part of how it ranks pages.
What Core Web Vitals measure
Core Web Vitals are Google's measurements of real user experience:
- Largest Contentful Paint: how quickly the main content appears
- Interaction to Next Paint: how quickly the page responds to taps and clicks
- Cumulative Layout Shift: how much the layout jumps while loading
Common causes of slow sites
- Large, uncompressed images
- Too many plugins or third-party scripts
- Cheap, overloaded hosting
- Heavy page builders and unused code
- Fonts and videos loading before they are needed
Quick wins
Resize and compress images, use modern formats such as WebP, remove plugins you do not use and limit tracking scripts to the ones you actually look at. You can check any page for free with Google PageSpeed Insights.
Build for speed from the start
The easiest fast website is one designed that way from day one. That is why we treat performance as part of the design process rather than something to fix after launch.
