Why it matters
When someone searches for a local service, Google often shows a map with a handful of businesses before any websites. Those listings come from Google Business Profile. A complete, active profile gives you a far better chance of being one of them.
Set up the basics properly
- Use your real business name, without extra keywords
- Choose the most accurate primary category
- Add secondary categories for other core services
- Set your service areas if you travel to customers
- Link to the most relevant page on your website
Add photos and services
Upload photos of your work, your team and your vehicles or premises. Fill in the services section with short descriptions. These details help Google understand what you do and help customers choose you.
Keep it active
Post updates when you finish a project, answer questions and keep your hours accurate, including bank holidays. Activity signals that the business is real and responsive.
Connect it to your website
Your profile and website work together. Make sure the details match exactly, and that the page you link to clearly explains your services and the areas you cover. A strong website makes the profile more convincing, and the profile sends visitors to the website.
